Passes and memberships for specific class types

Yes. You can create different passes and memberships for each class format and limit each product to the class types it should cover. Restrictions apply by class type (for example Yoga, Pilates, or Reformer), not by individual scheduled classes.

Short answer #

CoreBookings lets you sell visit packs and recurring memberships, then restrict each one to selected class types. A 5-visit studio pass can apply only to studio classes. A weekly membership can apply only to mat classes. Clients cannot use that pass for other formats.

Restrictions are optional. Leave every class type unchecked on a pass to let it book any class.

Set up class types #

Where: Settings → Class Types

  1. Click Settings in the left sidebar, then Class Types.
  2. Create a type for each format you want to separate (for example Studio Class, Mat Class, Private Session).
  3. When you add or edit classes on Class Schedule, choose the matching Session Type on the class form so bookings use the right type.

Create a pass or membership #

Where: Settings → Passes

  1. Click Settings, then Passes to open Passes & Memberships.
  2. Click + Create Pass.
  3. Enter Pass Name, Price, Number of Visits, and Expiry Days as needed.
  4. For a recurring membership, turn on Recurring membership (auto-billing) and set the billing interval.
  5. Set Visibility to Public or Hidden depending on whether clients should see it online.

Create a separate pass or membership for each product and price point. For example, one 5-visit studio pack and one weekly mat membership.

Restrict to specific class types #

When class-type restrictions are enabled for your studio, the pass editor shows Allowed class types.

  1. In the Create New Pass or Edit Pass dialog, scroll to Allowed class types.
  2. Leave every type unchecked if the pass should work for any class.
  3. Tick only the types this pass or membership should cover (for example tick Studio Class only for a studio pack).
  4. Click Create Pass or Update Pass.

The help text on the form explains: leave all unchecked so the pass can book any class, or choose types when it should apply to selected formats only.

How restrictions work at booking time #

  • When a client or staff member books a class, CoreBookings checks the class Session Type against the pass Allowed class types.
  • If the class type is not allowed, the booking flow will not use that pass. Choose a matching pass or sell the correct product.
  • Each scheduled class uses one class type. You cannot restrict a pass to a single date or time slot without using class types.
  • Restrictions apply to visit packs and recurring memberships.

Feature availability #

Allowed class types is available on Growth and Scale plans, enabled on request. It is not included on Free Solo or Starter.

If you do not see Allowed class types in the pass editor, contact CoreBookings support to have class-type restrictions turned on for your studio. You cannot enable this yourself from Plan & Billing.
